Members of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union

Kosala Buddhist Center & Vajradhara Buddhist Center are members of a world-wide family of centers in the New Kadampa Tradition. They are the principal centers of the New Kadampa Tradition in North Carolina and provide meditation and teaching in Asheville, Charlotte, and Carrboro/Chapel Hill.

The teachings and meditations are all in Engish and are suitable for all levels of experience and commitment, from beginner to advanced practitioner. The teachings and meditations are intended to enable people in North Carolina to find their own Inner Peace.

Our Spiritual Director - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Geshe Kelsang GyatsoThe Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition is the Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, a highly respected meditation Master and scholar born in Tibet in 1931. Under the guidance of his Spiritual Guide, the Venerable Trijang Rinpoche, he trained for nineteen years in the great Tibetan monasteries of Jampaling and Sera-Je before entering into meditation retreat in the Himalayas for almost twenty years. He holds the entire lineage of instructions of Kadampa Buddhism and is renowned as a great Teacher and Yogi. Learn more about Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Our Resident Teacher at Kosala Center & Vajradhara Center - Gen Kelsang Tilopa
Gen TilopaThe Resident Teacher of Kosala Buddhist center, Gen Kelsang Tilopa, is a fully ordained monk and close disciple and student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Tilopa is well loved for his humorous yet clear and profound teachings and for the great care he skillfully and compassionately gives to his students.

Born and educated in Scotland, Gen Tilopa brings to the teachings of pure Kadam Buddhadharma his varied life experiences to help and guide his students, and to show how pure dharma teachings and practice can improve the quality of our daily lives at work, at home, and in our everyday relationships.

Gen Tilopa has given teachings and empowerments and led meditation retreats in Scotland, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Donations
Kosala and Vajradhara Centers are non-profit organizations registered in North Carolina. They are part of an International family of centers under the same spiritual umbrella of Kadampa Buddhism, but financially independent. They rely upon donations for income to support the teachings and meditation classes.
