Getting StartedAre you new to Meditation? If you have never meditated but are interested in learning, the meditation class on Saturdays at 10-11 Meditation 101 will be perfect for you. You may have been wanting to try meditation for a long time but never found the time, or you may have been too afraid to try it. Our classes are especially targeted for people who have busy lifestyles, busy minds.
Learn How to MeditateKosala Buddhist Center offers a variety of introductory meditation classes. The Introductory meditation classes Meditation 101 and Meditation for a Peaceful Mind are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, ideas, and practice. The classes combine guided meditation with practical spiritual advice that you can immediately apply as a method for exchanging the stress and problems in your life for authentic happiness and peace. The classes are open to those who are able to attend only occasionally, as well as to those who want to follow a systematic series of classes. The classes are designed both as a series and as stand alone classes, so you can attend any one of the classes, even if the series has already started. If you interested in meditation or Buddhism, you can also learn more about books art and audio recordings through our website, and through our publisher.
What to expect in a classIntroductory classes begin with a simple guided meditation exercise to reduce stress, tension, and distractions. In Buddhism 101 on Tuesdays and Meditation for a Peaceful Mind on Wednesdays, this short meditation is followed by a short lecture on how to apply Buddhist principles into daily life. This may include topics such as improving relationships, gaining peace of mind, learning to love, and dealing with anger. In Meditation 101 the initial meditation is followed by an explanation of a meditation technique or an object of meditation (a special thought or feeling). There follows opportunity for discussion and question and answer. This gives you the opportunity to share your own experiences and discuss with other people who have the same wish to find happiness. Finally, there is a guided meditation designed to help us gain deeper experience of the path to authentic happiness. After the ClassAfter the class there is a chance to enjoy refreshments while relaxing or discussing the ideas presented in the teaching with other participants.
What do I need to do to Attend? To attend a meditation class, simply attend at the time or session that most suits you. You do not need any previous experience to attend these classes. Also, you do not need to pre-register. Simply choose a day and time and come to the class!! Why not come along and bring a friend and see for yourself what meditation can do for you? If you are interested in studying Buddha's teachings at a deeper level, you may wish to consider our Foundation Study Program.
